Replace the fuel pump when the engine struggles to start, stutters, or stalls suddenly, since weak fuel delivery reduces performance, causes rough running, and raises fuel use.

• Replacement sign: Hard starting, engine sputtering or power loss, or a loud whining noise from the fuel tank.
• Approximate lifespan: Roughly 150,000 to 200,000 km, depending on fuel quality and driving conditions.
• Install requirement: Requires installation by a qualified technician with the fuel system depressurized before work begins.
