Replace the belt tensioner when you hear squealing or notice belt flutter, since a weak spring or worn pulley loses proper tension and risks slipping that can stop accessory or engine operation.

  • Replacement sign: Squealing at start-up or belt vibration with play or noise in the pulley.
  • Approximate lifespan: Roughly 90,000 to 120,000 km depending on driving conditions.
  • Install requirement: Requires installation by a qualified technician with tension set to the recommended torque.
