Buying Ford parts in Saudi Arabia: genuine, Motorcraft or aftermarket?

Speero team4 min read

What is the difference between genuine, Motorcraft and aftermarket Ford parts?

A genuine part is what the dealer sells to Ford's specification, and Ford's dealer parts brand is called Motorcraft, so a Motorcraft box is in practice the dealer part. An aftermarket part is made by a manufacturer other than Ford, costs less, and its quality ranges from a known maker to an unknown one.

The practical rule for Ford owners:

  • Engine, transmission, sensors and electrical: genuine, or aftermarket from a known manufacturer. The big engines in Explorer, Expedition and F150 work under heat and load, and a cheap part here costs more later.
  • Brake pads, filters, shock absorbers, lighting, mirrors and bumpers: a good aftermarket part saves money with no real compromise, especially on older models like the Crown Victoria and Taurus.

On the Ford spare parts page on Speero you see the available options for the same part, and you compare and decide.

How do you tell a genuine Ford part from a counterfeit?

Counterfeits are a real problem with Ford parts because demand for American models is high here. Signs to watch for:

  1. 1The part number does not match: the original part number is printed on the part and the box. If it is missing or differs from the one you got from the dealer or the old part, stop.
  2. 2The price is far below normal: a 'genuine' part at a third of the dealer price is usually not genuine.
  3. 3A box with no data: a genuine box carries the brand name, part number and country of origin in clear print.
  4. 4The seller will not say where the part is from: ask whether it is dealer, Motorcraft or aftermarket, and from which manufacturer. A serious seller answers clearly.

On Speero every part page states the type and the original part number, and we confirm fitment with your car before shipping.

Why do Ford parts need more care on year and trim?

Ford sells one model with more than one engine and drivetrain (rear-wheel or four-wheel drive), and the brake, suspension, axle and differential parts change with them. The Explorer can change its bumper, lights and shock absorbers from one year to the next, and the F150 differs by cab, engine and drivetrain. That is why the year alone is not enough; you need the trim or the part number.

How do you get a Ford part number and order with it?

You have three ways, from surest to easiest:

  1. 1From the old part: most genuine Ford parts have the part number printed on them. Photograph it before removing the part.
  2. 2From the dealer with your VIN: the chassis number (VIN) is under the windscreen on the driver's side, on the driver's door label, and on the registration card. Give it to the dealer (Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies) and they will give you the correct part number for your exact car, even if you do not buy from them.
  3. 3On Speero: pick Ford, then the model and year, and you only see parts linked to them; search by part number directly if you have it.

The VIN search steps are explained in how to search Toyota parts by VIN; the article is about Toyota, but the method is the same.

Cheapest Ford parts: where to save without taking a risk

The price depends on the source:

  • The dealer: most expensive, but fitment and origin are guaranteed. Right for engine, transmission and sensors if the car is new.
  • Online stores: cheaper than the dealer for both genuine and aftermarket because they compare more than one supplier. The condition is that the store links the part to your model and year and confirms fitment before shipping.
  • Scrapyards and used parts: the cheapest option for body, glass and mirror parts on older models, but with no fitment guarantee and usually no returns. Avoid them for brakes and sensors.

The real saving comes from choosing aftermarket in the categories that suit it (brakes, filters, shock absorbers, lighting) and genuine in the categories that cannot tolerate a mistake, not from the cheapest seller.

The most requested Ford parts in Saudi Arabia

From what we see in Ford owners' orders:

  • A/C and cooling: big engines run hotter in summer, and cooling and A/C parts are the first to wear on Explorer and Expedition.
  • Brakes and pads: heavy weight wears pads faster, especially on pickups and 4x4s.
  • Suspension and arms: for those who go off-road or tow, on the Expedition and F150.
  • Filters: oil, air and cabin, the cheapest maintenance that protects the engine.
  • Engine and transmission: the parts where we recommend genuine or a known manufacturer.
